    Overview

Climate action is entering a more complex and fragmented phase. Policy divergence, geopolitical tensions and uneven capital flows are reshaping how governments and businesses approach decarbonisation. At the same time, pressures on energy security, industrial competitiveness and resource access are testing the durability of existing transition strategies.

Businesses and investors are recalibrating priorities in response. Adaptation, resilience and resource security are rising alongside mitigation, while demand for climate technologies continues to grow. Yet progress remains uneven, constrained by financing gaps, policy uncertainty and increasing exposure to physical climate risks.

The FT Sessions broadcast daily from London during London Climate Action Week, will bring together policymakers, investors and business leaders. The sessions will explore the central themes shaping climate action today: adapting to escalating physical risks, managing resource constraints and strengthening global coordination ahead of COP31. It will examine how these dynamics intersect with markets, policy and technology. Together, these discussions will provide essential context for understanding the direction of climate action in the year ahead.

Climate adaptation as opportunity – Investing in resilience, water systems and technology

Water-related risks are emerging as some of the most immediate and financially material threats to supply chains, infrastructure and economic stability. As risks materialise faster than expected and investment lags behind, adaptation is shifting from a defensive necessity to a strategic priority for businesses and governments.

From London to Antalya - What is next for global climate action?

London Climate Action Week has become a key moment to test ideas and signal intent, but translating momentum into delivery remains a challenge. With COP31 approaching, attention is turning to which commitments will endure and where gaps remain.

"Super topical, and discussed in a very open and honest way - the current political environment has made people wary of diving deep on certain sustainability topics, or to scrutinise some of the US administration's decisions on climate, clean energy, DEI, etc, but the speakers were not afraid to do so and provided elaborate views on the matter."
